The Indiana State University College of Technology includes the following departments: Applied Engineering and Technology Management; Aviation Technology; Built Environment; Electronics and Computer Engineering Technology; Human Resource Development and Performance Technologies; a detachment of Air Force ROTC; and a detachment of Army ROTC. The College’s programs focus primarily on the preparation of professionals desiring to become managers, application engineers, project engineers, process technologists, supervisors, instructors/trainers, pilots, and teachers in the areas of industry, education, business, and government. These programs provide exciting careers for persons who want to combine theory and application in their study. Students may pursue a bachelor’s degree in any of the following: adult and career education; architectural engineering technology; automation and control engineering technology; automotive engineering technology; aviation management; bachelor of applied science; civil engineering technology; computer engineering technology; construction management; electronics engineering technology; engineering (BSE); engineering technology; engineering technology management; human resource development for higher education and industry; information technology; interior architecture design; manufacturing engineering technology; mechanical engineering technology; packaging engineering technology; professional aviation flight technology; safety management; technology and engineering education; textiles, apparel, and merchandising; and unmanned systems.
Advanced Placement. Students who possess knowledge and skill in a particular technology may apply for advanced standing. This particularly applies to students with pilot certification and completion of the Project Lead the Way courses. Based on an evaluation, students may receive credit for beginning courses. Application for advanced placement should be made to the departmental chairperson.
Internship and Professional Practice Programs. All students in the College of Technology are encouraged to take advantage of career-related experience in industry (e.g. internships or cooperative education). Up to six semester hours of academic credit may be earned toward completion of the bachelor degree.
The DegreeLink Program. DegreeLink is a means for students to build upon an associate’s degree and earn a bachelor’s degree from ISU by taking classes at a distance or by enrolling at the Terre Haute campus. DegreeLink is an extended access, degree-completion program which enables students who have earned credit hours and an associate degree from accredited collegiate institutions to transfer credit hours, as a block or on a course-by-course basis, to ISU baccalaureate degree programs. The College of Technology offers numerous baccalaureate degree programs in this manner. (Refer to the DegreeLink Program description in this Catalog.)
Accreditation.
The undergraduate Mechanical Engineering Technology, Computer Engineering Technology, Automotive Engineering Technology and Packaging Engineering Technology programs are accredited by the Engineering Technology Accreditation Commission (ETAC) of ABET Inc1.
The undergraduate Safety Management degree is accredited by the Applied and Natural Science Accreditation Commission (ANSAC) of ABET INC1.
The undergraduate Interior Architecture Design degree is accredited by the Council for Interior Design Accreditation (CIDA)2, the National Kitchen and Bath Association (NKBA)3, and the National School of Art and Design (NASAD)4.
The undergraduate Construction Management degree is accredited by the American Council for Construction Education (ACCE)5.
The undergraduate Technology and Engineering Education is accredited by the Council for Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP)6.
The undergraduate Electronics Engineering Technology, Manufacturing Engineering Technology, and the graduate Occupational Safety Management programs are accredited by the Association of Technology Management and Applied Engineering (ATMAE)7.
