SOC 110 - Global Sociology 3 Credits
Description
How does our local context connect to a global community? How are social meanings constructed differently in various global contexts? How does one’s social location shape the way they come to make sense of their place in the world? These are just a few questions sociologists ask and represent some of the questions this class will cover. This course is an introduction to the sociological analysis of various social dynamics in the United States and the world. Students will develop a better understanding of the various facets of a pluralistic American society that is part of an interconnected world. The primary goal of the course is to provide a foundation for living in an increasingly diverse American society and interacting in a global environment.
