Description
How do we connect our individual lives to the world around us? What is social construction, and how does it impact our everyday experiences? Sociology seeks to answer such questions through a systematic analysis of the social world. In this class, we will address these and other questions through reading and discussing sociological literature, investigating the origin of sociology as a discipline, assessing key topics in the field, understanding sociological research methodology, and applying a sociological lens to the world around us. This course covers key sociological topics, including the construction of norms and values, social networks, social stratification, and other relevant issues in the field of sociology.
