PSCI 247 - Popular Culture and Politics 2 Credits
Description This course explores the relationship between popular culture and politics. Selected topics and themes are typically explored in the class, all of which examine how various forms of popular culture—such as film, television, music, literature, and/or social media—reflect, influence, and challenge elected officials, political ideologies, and social movements. The course will cover key theoretical frameworks and methodologies from political science and political communication to analyze the impact of popular culture on public opinion, political behavior, and policy-making.
