LING 602 - Current Issues in TESL and Linguistics

3 Credits
This course introduces learners to the nature, structure, and functions of language and offers practice in grammatical and phonological analysis of language structures. During the semester we will investigate the origins of language as a natural semiotic system, its structural and systemic properties, as well as discover sociocultural and regional variations of human language. This course will give you the opportunity to understand how structures create meaning in verbal production in varying contexts, to identify those features that may cause problems for non-native speakers, and to experiment with linguistic and philosophic analysis of universally recognized language units and concepts.
