Surveys the Russian economy through the 20th Century with emphasis on the Soviet economic system, its challenge to capitalism, and its eventual demise. Examines problems and successes of economic transition from 1985 to the end of the century and considers Russia’s place in the world economy.

Prerequisites
ECON 200 and 201 or permission of the instructor.
