COUN 750 - Advanced Theories of Counseling3 credits This course is designed to provide students with advanced preparation in individual, group, career, multicultural, and ecosystemic (marriage and Family) theories of counseling. Special attention will be given to the implications of sociocultural, demographic, and lifestyle diversity to the delivery of counseling services to clientele and to the preparation of counselor educators. Students will review historical, constructivist, narrative, and discursive theories of personality construction and reconstruction and will generate a conceptual model for articulating a theory-based response to a contemporary issue that is related to counseling, counselor education, or both.
