SOC 463 - Social Classes 3 credits
Description Examines perspectives on social class to improve understanding of societal stratification and inequality. Determinants of class location and the effects of social class on “life chances” will be analyzed. Broader social implications of social class systems, i.e., the distribution of wealth, income, and power; institutional arrangements; and class related differences in religion, political participation, and recreation will also be examined.
Prerequisites SOC 390 and junior/senior class standing or consent of instructor.
Note Open to graduate students. Graduate students are required to do additional work of a research nature.
When Offered Offered: spring semesters of odd numbered years.
