Environmental Geoscience Learning Outcomes

Outcome 1: Students will demonstrate effective oral and written communication skills.

1.1 Demonstrate writing and speaking skills necessary to translate scientific information to the public.

1.2 Write laboratory reports and summaries to develop technical writing skills.

Outcome 2: Collect, evaluate, manipulate, and present scientific data.

2.1 Accurately collect and synthesize field and laboratory observations or data.

2.2 Assess data quality, recognize sources of data error and bias, and demonstrate basic proficiency with computer programs used to organize, manipulate, analyze, and present data.

2.3 Demonstrate working knowledge of basic statistics and appropriate graphing techniques.

Outcome 3: Recognize, describe, and explain short- and long-term environmental issues and risks faced by humans and induced by human activities.
