Social Studies Education Learning Outcomes


Outcome 1: History
1.1 Candidates who are to be licensed to teach history at all school levels should possess the knowledge, capabilities, and dispositions to organize and provide instruction at the appropriate school level for the study of history.
 
Foundational Studies 1: Locate, critically read, and evaluate information to solve problems.
Foundational Studies 2: Critically evaluate the ideas of others.
Foundational Studies 3:Apply knowledge and skills within and across the fundamental ways of knowing (natural sciences, social and behavioral sciences, arts and humanities, mathematics, and history).
Foundational Studies 5: Demonstrate the skills for effective citizenship and stewardship.
Foundational Studies 6: Demonstrate an understanding of diverse cultures within and across societies.
Foundational Studies 7: Demonstrate the skills to place current and local experience in a global, cultural, and historical context.
Foundational Studies 8: Demonstrate an understanding of the ethical implications of decisions and actions.
Foundational Studies 10: Express themselves effectively, professionally, and persuasively both orally and in writing.
Outcome 2: Geography
2.1 Candidates who are to be licensed to teach geography at all school levels should possess the knowledge, capabilities, and dispositions to organize and provide instruction at the appropriate school level for the study of geography.

3.1 Candidates who are to be licensed to teach civics and government at all school levels should possess the knowledge, capabilities, and dispositions to organize and provide instruction at the appropriate school level for the study of civics and government.
