ECON 694 - Topics in Teaching Economics 3 credits This course is designed to help teachers of grades K-12 incorporate economics into their classrooms by providing them with an understanding of the basic economic concepts relating to selected topics. Participants will gain a broad view of methods that can be used to present relevant economic concepts to students of all ages. Participants will also learn of available teaching materials and receive assistance with curriculum development for more effective classroom teaching of economic concepts.

ECT 537 - Industrial Computer Systems Management 3 credits Evaluation of control computers in an industrial environment, the direct and indirect cost trade-off of implementing a hardwired versus a programmed controller. The effect of management decisions on industrial computer applications. Economics of open and closed systems, software versus hardware, in-house versus contract maintenance, and multi-vendor versus single vender systems.

ELED 526 - Early Childhood: Educating Infants and Toddlers in an Inclusive Environment 3 credits This course focuses on fostering caregivers’ skills in promoting infants and toddlers’ physical, social, emotional, and cognitive development with emphasis on their daily routines, environmental safety, health and nutritional needs, and their psychological needs. The course content integrates national standards and addresses child rearing practices in different cultures.
Note Field experience is required in an infant and toddler setting. is only because I have a degree in early childhood and what she learns early in life will benefit her in the future.

ELED 537 - Early Childhood: Theories and Practices in Working with Exceptional Children 3 credits This course focuses on providing early childhood students with knowledge and skills to work with children with special needs in an inclusive classroom setting. The course provides students with learning opportunities to observe children’s behavior, identify each child’s special needs, and implement appropriate learning and assessment strategies.
Note Field experience is required and involves interactions with atypical young children.

ELED 640 - Early Childhood Education Internship 3-6 credits An opportunity for guided field experiences in administration, consultation, or supervision in early childhood education. The internship experiences are planned jointly with the student, the early childhood education faculty member, and field personnel under whose direction the student is working. The student is expected to demonstrate the ability to apply current early childhood education theories and practices in fulfilling the assignment. The student’s transcript will designate the area of specialization.
Note An internship may be completed in more than one area of specialization, but no more than 6 semester hours may be counted toward meeting degree requirements.
