African and African American Studies Major

Required Courses (18 hours):

• AFRI 113 - Foundations of African and African American Studies 3 hours
• AFRI 212 - African American Cultural Traditions 3 hours
• AFRI 222 - African Cultural Traditions 3 hours
• AFRI 312 - Socio-Political Development and Change in the African and African American World 3 hours
• AFRI 390 - Introduction to Research Methods in African and African American Studies 3 hours
• AFRI 486 - Senior Seminar in African and African American Studies 3 hours

Electives:

Select 21 additional hours in African and African American studies, with at least 9 hours from among courses at the 300-400 level. Twelve hours must be directed electives approved by the student’s advisor. African and African American Studies 250 may only be repeated twice for credit toward the major.
